Watching IPTV on an iPhone or iPad is easier than most people think, but the App Store works differently from Android: there is no sideloading, the app names are slightly different, and a couple of the popular players are paid. This guide covers the best IPTV apps for iPhone in 2026, how to set each one up in two minutes, and how to send the picture to your TV with AirPlay.

What you need

An iPhone or iPad on iOS 15 or newer, your IPTV login (Xtream Codes details or an M3U link), and Wi-Fi or a good 4G/5G connection. Mobile data works fine for HD channels, but a football match in full HD uses roughly 2–3 GB per hour, so keep an eye on your plan. No subscription yet? Request a free trial on WhatsApp.

The best IPTV apps for iPhone and iPad

1. Smarters Player Lite (free)

This is IPTV Smarters for iOS, published under a different name. Same interface as the Android and TV versions: Live TV, Movies, Series, EPG, catch-up and favourites. Setup: open the app → Login with Xtream Codes API → enter any name, username, password and server URL (with the port) → Add User. If you already use Smarters on your TV, this is the obvious choice; the experience is identical. Full details in our IPTV Smarters setup guide.

2. GSE Smart IPTV (free with ads, Pro upgrade)

A veteran iOS player with very good M3U support, an EPG that updates reliably, and Chromecast and AirPlay built in. The interface is older-looking but fast. Setup: Remote Playlists → + → Add Xtream Codes API (or M3U URL) → paste your details. Good if your provider gave you an M3U link rather than Xtream Codes.

3. iPlayTV (paid, one-off)

Beautiful native Apple design, made for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV with iCloud sync between them. Add your playlist once on the phone and it appears on the Apple TV. The TV guide is excellent and channel switching is instant. Worth the small price if you own an Apple TV.

4. Flex IPTV (paid, one-off)

Another polished native app, popular for its picture-in-picture, multi-playlist support and fast search. Similar to iPlayTV; pick whichever interface you prefer.

5. IPTVX (free, in-app purchases)

Modern design with posters and metadata for films and series, plus a solid EPG. A good middle ground between free and premium apps.

Apps come and go from the App Store, so if one of these is missing when you search, simply use the next one on the list; your login works in all of them.

Set up step by step (any app)

  1. Install the app from the App Store and open it.
  2. Choose Xtream Codes (recommended) or M3U URL.
  3. Copy and paste the server URL including http:// and the port number, then the username and password. Do not type them; a single wrong character causes “invalid credentials”.
  4. Wait for the channel list and the EPG to download (one to three minutes the first time).
  5. Add your favourite channels and set your time zone in the app settings so kick-off times are correct.

Watch on the big screen: AirPlay and Chromecast

Every app above supports AirPlay: open a channel, swipe down to Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring and pick your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible Samsung/LG/Sony TV. Some apps also have an AirPlay icon inside the player, which streams the video directly (better quality, and you can keep using the phone). GSE and Smarters also support Chromecast for Google TV and Chromecast devices.

For everyday viewing on the TV, though, a dedicated device is more comfortable than casting from a phone. See our guides for the Fire Stick, Samsung and LG Smart TVs and Android TV boxes; your STORY IPTV login works on all of them at the same time.

Tips for a smooth experience on iPhone

Common problems on iOS

The app was removed from the App Store: it happens periodically. Install another from the list; nothing changes on the provider side.

Black screen with sound: switch the player engine in the app settings (most offer a native and an alternative decoder).

EPG is empty: wait a few minutes and refresh the guide; if still empty, add your provider’s EPG URL manually.

Buffering: it is the connection in 90% of cases. Our buffering guide applies to phones as well as TVs.

Ready to watch on your iPhone?

Install Smarters Player Lite, ask us for a free trial, paste the login and you’ll be watching in under five minutes. Every STORY IPTV plan includes multiple connections, so the phone, the tablet and the living-room TV can all run at once.
